Job Summary POSITION PROFILE: (Basic Purpose of Position) The primary purpose of this position is to manage and direct the accounting activities of assigned operating companies; ensuring that proper accounting and recording of company transactions are performed in an accurate and timely manner; and producing financial and other key reports and analysis for management. The Manager, Financial Accounting directs and coordinates the daily activities of the accounting staff to quickly and accurately record and report revenues, cost of sales / services, operating expenses, assets, liabilities and equity; evaluates and makes appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes and its internal control environment ensuring that practices are in line with the overall organization expectations. MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Manager, Financial Accounting supports the development and achievement of business objectives for assigned operating companies. The role includes the following key responsibilities: Managing day-to-day accounting matters and support business unit stakeholders. Accounting matters include revenue, cost of sales/services, operating expense, interest, tax, asset, liability and equity transactions. Managing transactional accounting processes such as vendor rebates and customer rebates. Managing the approval, spend, accounting and closeout of company owned or company leased capital assets. Maintaining the general ledger chart of accounts. Driving continuous improvement initiatives and special projects across all entities to further enhance the control environment and simplify processes. Supporting ongoing business and financial system extensions, upgrades and enhancements. Ensuring internal control environment is in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, Remediating control deficiencies.  Managing internal and external financial audits. Reviewing account reconciliations, journal entries and analyzing balance sheet and operating, accounts. Developing and implementing accounting policy & procedures, audit & compliance plans and accounting reporting & analytics. Collaborating with the business teams to ensure that transactions are accounted for properly. Reporting and analysis in support of external financial reporting and related disclosures. Preparing or approving communications that support accounting assumptions and/or account positions. Developing and leveraging relationships with internal stakeholders to create open, simple and integrated processes. Leading projects with resources from these groups to accomplish goals and objectives. Measuring and improving individual and team performance / engagement. Onboarding new associates. Utilizing strong communication skills to interface and resolve employee inquires, writing communications, designing, developing and maintaining employee training courses, FAQ's and other communication tools including internal websites. Leading or supporting special projects. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Undergraduate (bachelor’s) degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA/CA and/or MBA preferred 8-12 years of progressively responsible relevant finance experience in manufacturing / distribution industry or public accounting  Proven leadership skills Ability to work effectively with associates across multiple functions and regions Experience creating processes and improving / simplifying process Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/financial systems. Experience with SAP/Hyperion preferred Superior analytical and quantitative skills; ability to analyze complex processes/issues and drive simple outcomes Strong collaboration and influencing skills Strong verbal and written communication skills KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES Strong command of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (USGAAP) Experience developing strong internal controls as well as remediating weak internal controls Experience developing accounting policies and procedures Experience planning and leading projects Demonstrates customer centric behaviors Is process oriented, solutions focused and results driven Works effectively with people from different backgrounds and regions Embraces fast pace, complex and continuously changing environments Experience hiring and developing top talent and leading high performing teams Is accountable and responsible for words and actions DISCLAIMER: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
