JOB DESCRIPTION Job Description SummaryThe Technical Application Engineer (TAE) –Protection and Control is responsible for providing technical sales support on the GE Grid Automation protection and control product portfolio, including working closely with the customer to determine requirements, demo solutions and to drive sales by promoting the business value proposition of Grid Automation’s products and solutions.Job DescriptionEssential ResponsibilitiesActs as expert consultant to guide customers in planning and development of technical solutions.Lead customers in architecting, commissioning, and testing new protection and control technologies.Provide voice of customer feedback to the product technology team and provide a link from the customer to marketing, engineering and product development teams.Lead technical presentations presented to customers in support of sales or service.Works with customers to understand problems and consults to solve problems based on GE solutions. Work with product management to develop product strategies to solve customer problems. Works with senior management to develop business case around product strategies which solve customer problems.Provide product training and application training to customers, sales force, and TAE team.Work directly with customers and team members to influence technical specifications and support sales team to close key orders.Support Commercial Segment Leaders and Product Line Leaders with definition and execution of the Product Line strategy, with emphasis on Product enhancement, New Product Introductions, and value proposition.Prepare and present technical presentations, white papers, and case studies at industry conferences. Acts as technical support to the commercial teams, providing technical expertise during Customer presentations, demonstrations and sales calls. Often leading and presenting the presentation or demonstration.Develop and cultivate long-term relationships at the technical levels of customer organizationsCoordinate with sales teams to make customer calls and presentations and participate in bid meetings and site walk-through meetings with customer as necessaryPartner with peers and management to enhance selling techniques and approaches in line with both the region's growth objectives and Grid Solutions initiativesQualifications/RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering or Control & Instrumentation Engineering from an accredited college or universityMinimum of 5 years of experience in power system protection and controlMinimum of 5 years of experience working with transmission utilitiesEligibility Requirements:Ability and willingness to travel when necessaryDesired Characteristics/ExperiencePresented White Papers at major industrial conferences.Working across several layers of the business to develop and implement product strategies for customers.Presented application and product trainingRecognized as a thought leader within the protection and control industryPerform Power system protection coordination studies, short circuit studies and relay setting calculations and provide support for field installationPower system automation and communication expertiseHands on expertise in configuring and troubleshooting protection and control systemsSubstation automation, SCADA, and RTU application expertiseIntegration of various Utility and Industrial protection and control systemsConveys deep understanding of industrial and utility relaying protection schemesDemonstrates practical experience with protective relay settings, features and network communicationsExcellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbalAbility to maintain professional demeanor and interact with all levels of customersStrong background in a customer-interfacing roleWork efficiently without direct supervisionDesire to work outside of boundaries and drive changeDemonstrate practical experience with protective relay settings, features and network communicationsSelf-starter with a positive, customer focused attitudeStrong creative and problem-solving skillsFlexible and adaptable; open to change and modification of tasksAble to share ideas and work well in a team environmentProactive approach to tasks - displays initiativeStrong organizational & communication skills and a proactive and open approach to conflict resolutionDemonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applicationsAdditional InformationGE offers a great work environment, professional development, challenging careers, and competitive compensation.
