Retirement and deferred compensation programs Employee Assistance Program Work-Life Balance programs: parental leave, military leave, jury leave, funeral leave Position Summary & Responsibilities: Position Summary: This position is located in Topeka, at the Eisenhower State Office Building, and is within the Bureau of Road Design. This position will be responsible for review of preliminary utility information, utility field checks, and will assist in the coordination, identification and the relocation and adjustment process for utility facilities in conflict with bridge and highway improvement projects. Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Provides grading, surfacing and bridge preliminary plants to utility companies to assist them in identifying utilities needing adjustment or relocation. Provides technical questions regarding plan preparation and information on the plans to others. Reviews the utility information returned on the field check plans and forwards them to Road Design for plan correction. Arranges for distribution of project plans to utility companies with appropriate correspondence and assists utility company personnel in determination of necessary adjustments. Assists in reviewing the cost estimates for relocation for accuracy and continuity. Prepares standard format utility adjustment agreements and where special agreements are required prepares revisions or modifications for transmittal to the utility company. Reviews third party agreements between consultants and the utility companies and/or local agencies for correctness and advises appropriate parties of needed changes. Requests approval from the FHWA as needed. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications : Four years of experience in engineering technical support. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Transcripts must be submitted for education to be considered. Valid Driver’s License at time of appointment. Current Certificate of Tax Clearance. (See Required Documents below for information regarding this certificate) Preferred Qualifications : Effective communication skills both orally and in writing. Experience using Adobe/Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Software such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access.
